In 2014, the Hispanic Federation, Coalition for Asian American Children and Families, New York Urban League and Asian American Federation formed an alliance, along with the Black Agency Executives, to provide capacity-building support to Black, Latino, and Asian-led community-based organizations throughout New York City’s five boroughs.

As a result, the New York City Council allocated $2.5 million to establish the Communities of Color Nonprofit Stabilization Fund in the 2015 Fiscal Year, an amount that was increased to $3.7 million in 2018 and $3.755 million in 2019 and steadily remains at the same amount heading into Fiscal Year 2020.

This initiative has supported 378 capacity-building projects for nonprofit organizations to date.

The first New York City Council fund of its kind, CCNSF aims to build the capacity of New York City nonprofits in recognition of the fact that organizations led by people of the community are best equipped to meet the needs of the community.
