Building Beats was a recipient of the Communities of Color Nonprofit Stabilization Fund for Capacity Building grant for Strategy and Organizational Development in 2018.
The organization developed a Fundraising Plan with consultant Cami Aurioles with the funding. As part of their Plan, Building Beats was able to create fundraising goals for the 2018-2019 fiscal year that helped align the entire organization around objectives that have since been used as guiding template to build for future fiscal year planning.
This included:
Creating a Grants Playbook that have since been used to allow the organization to scale its grant applications
Building an earned income strategy to diversify the organization's revenue streams for long-term sustainability
Develop a CRM system that increased engagement with partners, donors, and potential supporters
By strengthening these three aspects of their fundraising initiatives, Building Beats went on to raise over $30,000 in individual and corporate donations, a 40% increase from the previous year, and attract new funding opportunities from foundations and company CSR initiatives.
Building Beats is now serving over 1000 students every school year empowering them with life, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills through music.
