Turning Point for Women and Families is an organization based in Flushing, Queens, which offers free and confidential services in a culturally and religiously sensitive environment. They focus on issues related to domestic violence, child safety, immigration, poverty, advocacy for family services and for public policy, support groups for women and for teenage girls, and the aftermath of 9/11, among others.
Turning Point for Women and Families is using a grant from the Communities of Color Stabilization Fund to focus on evaluation and outcomes systems development.
In February 2019, they hired a consultant to help evaluate their programs and data collection tools. All of the staff has been involved in this process and working with a consultant has allowed the staff to learn more about each other’s programs.
Testimony from Turning Point for Women and Families
“This has not only helped us brainstorm and explore ways in which to gauge outcomes, but has helped our staff fully understand how our programs intersect and impact our work.
As we paused to reflect on the organization’s short-term and long-term goals that we would like each program to accomplish, we also solidified our individual and collective visions. Overall, this project has helped strengthen our team.”
